Road Trip Map: Montreal, Lake Champlain

We decided to travel north again where the summers are cooler and where we can best avoid mosquitoes. We enjoyed the area around Lake Champlain very much and stayed at campgrounds surrounding it. We did venture as far as Quebec.

Jul 8 - 11    Ausable Point &  Ausable Chasm for raft tour,
                  and adventure climb.
Jul 12 - 13  I cannot recall what we did or where we went, but I know that I had
a great lobster roll at Ray's Seafood Market in VT
Jul 14 -16   Old Montreal via Metro, Biodome, the Underground City
and Voiles en Voiles Pirate Climb

Found It

Randy asked a person at the Cabot Creamery where we might find a local spot to eat. They told us to go to the hardware store. We did. And sure enough there was a diner very much inside of the store in the back. I ordered the cheddar and apple pancakes because when you find yourself in a strange place you order an item you wouldn't otherwise try. And here it is days later and I remember the pancakes. Oh boy, they were very excellent.

The place was called Sarahs' Country Diner. I recommend everyone drop everything and take a road trip on the 2 to Cabot, VT to try them. It's cash only and closed on Sundays.

Road Trip Map: Acadia National Park, ME

We went on a bit of a road trip in the van. 1400 miles.

July 9th          Nicks Lake B Loop, Adirondacks NY
July 10 - 11    Lake Harris, Adirondacks NY
July 12th        Wildwood Rest Area near Kinsman Notch NH
July 13th        Canon Aerial Tramway, Mt. Blue State Park, Weld ME
July 14th        Mt Blue SP, Weld ME
July 15 - 17    Schoodic Point, Acadia SP ME
July 18 - 19    Lamoine State Park, ME
July 20 - 22    Moose Tours, Moose Brook State Park, Gorham NH
July 23           Cabot Creamery Cheese Factory Tour, New Discovery SP, VT
Jul 24             Ben and Jerry Factory Tour, Vermont Teddy Factory Tour,
Lake Champlain Ferry, Nicks Lake Adirondacks, NY
July 25           Sakana Ya Sushi, Syracuse, and home by 4pm.

We had intended to make some other stops -- various caverns and amusement parks along the way, but the weather and timing did not allow. Luckily the campgrounds had swimming beaches, and fishing/crabbing opportunities to make up for it.

My favorite part of the trip was not Acadia itself, due to lots of traffic and tourists. I was surprised to enjoy Moose Brook State Park and Waterbury Vermont. Both places were loaded with the friendliest people and the best summer weather. No bugs. Clean mountain air. May need to go back there someday.

Celebrating Early

We are not sure we will be in town or not, so we celebrated her birthday early.
